Technical Vessel Inspector is responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational

efficiency of vessels and new builds through inspections, audits, and surveys. This role involves

evaluating the condition of ships, equipment, and systems to ensure they meet regulatory standards and safety protocols.

For new builds at the yards responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of newly

constructed vessels. This role involves detailed inspections, testing, and coordination with various

departments to ensure that all aspects of the shipbuilding process meet regulatory standards and project specifications.

Duties and responsibilities:

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ):

Keeps him or herself actively up-to-date to HSEQ manual and procedures

Inform and instruct HSEQ regulation, incl. emergency procedure to subcontractors and visitors.

Monitors safety performance of subcontracted work on ships and or yards and speaks up and

takes action when needed.

In case of doubts or anything is unclear, speak up-communicate or ask for a time out.

Attend safety meetings and ensure that all safety protocols are strictly followed during construction.

Preparation New Building, Large Repairs and Modification Projects:

Preparation of scope of work and technical specifications

Management of QC requirements in fabrication and subcontractor work.

Monitor and report work progress.

Ensure that all construction activities comply with local and international maritime regulations and standards.

Conduct thorough inspections and testing of hulls, machinery, piping, and outfitting during various stages of construction.

Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies during the construction process.

Participate in sea trials and inclining tests to verify the vessels performance and stability.

KOTUG technical standard

Mentor and coach junior technical staff.

Create awareness for KOTUG technical standard.

Signalize deviations, give feedback to technical staff and management.

Second line technical support: Assistance and support to chief engineers on board.

Give feedback on performance and development goals of chief engineers to Corporate Technical

Manager.

Technical documentation:

Administrate and file technical documentation.

Review and approve design drawings, plans, and technical documentation.

Operate inspection and test plans and document all work processes.

Ensure continuous improvement process.

Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, including any deficiencies or non-compliance

issues.

Close-out:

Prepare and monitor close out and report findings.

Relationship Management:

Represent Kotug in external relations.

Work closely with yard managers, QA/QC teams, design departments, and subcontractors to

coordinate inspection activities.

Inform and motivate local Port Engineers

Inspections of 2nd hand vessels:

Provide on request inspections of 2nd hand vessels.

Experience

A degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field is preferred.

Relevant certifications in vessel inspection and maritime safety are advantageous.

Experience in Marine Vessel inspection, safety audits, and compliance checks.

Understanding of maritime regulations, safety protocols and vessel operations.
