If youre ready to take on a role that makes a difference, apply now!For further information about the Arizona Correctional Industries, visit: https://aci.az.gov/Job Duties:- Drives both gas and diesel vehicles ranging from ton vans to semi-tractor trailer rigs weighing 80,000 lbs.- Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections as required by Federal law- Supervises and trains assigned inmate workers- Closely monitors work crew activities and enforces security practices and daily sanitation in the area of responsibility in accordance with ADCRR policies, procedures, and best practices- Oversees the loading, delivery, and installation of ACI products- Supervises warehouse activities performed by inmates- Prepares necessary trip tickets per ADCRR guidelines and maintains CDL certifications/medical compliance- Takes precautionary measures to prevent damage or theft of items while in transit- Accounts for all goods being shipped on the bill of lading and verifies quality of goods being sold- Ensures quality installation- Interfaces with customers and vendors during pickup, delivery, and installation of ACI-produced goods- Operates material handling equipment, which includes hand trucks, electric pallet jacks, and gas-operated forklifts (up to 11,000 lbs. capacity)- Consults with the Regional Operations Manager, Transportation Supervisor, and other staff regarding quality control issues- Attends mandatory training and staff meetings- Prepares written reports as required- Drives on State business- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignmentKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:- Supervision and management techniques- Training methods- Warehouse and transportation operations to include shipping, receiving, inventory control, product delivery, storage, manufacturing, and installation- Hazardous material handling- Division and Department policies and procedures, including fire and safety standards and regulations- Federal Motor Carrier Safety RegulationsSkill in:- Written and verbal communication- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships- Organization and research- Quality control- Hazardous material handling- Operation of gas and diesel-powered vehicles and safe operation of electric and gas-powered forklifts- Manufacturing equipment/machinery- Simple bookkeeping- Motivational techniques- Decision makingAbility to:- Lift/Carry 50lbs- Push/Pull 50lbs- Walk/Run .25 miles- Read state and city road maps and/or use electronic map apps to locate destinations- Safely operate a gas-powered forklift- Use safe and proper loading techniques- Secure and unload products- Adhere to all Department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures- Work in a prison environment- Work extended and irregular hours with inmate work crewSelective Preference(s):- Minimum of three (3) years on-the-job experience driving a semi-tractor trailer and/or box truck; working in a warehouse or transportation operation with duties that include supervision, shipping, receiving, inventory control, product delivery, storage, manufacturing, and installationPre-Employment Requirements:A valid Arizona Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner''s Certificate.Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply.
