This position provides administrative oversight of all aspects of the Department of Surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical center, which encompasses divisions of Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery/Surgical Oncology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Transplant Surgery, and includes graduate medical education relationships with five (5) major hospital affiliates. Responsible for departmental financial management, including faculty practice plan operation and grants and contracts; program planning, including development of clinical /business plans and contribution to the hospital/university strategic plans; personnel management; academic administration, health and safety administration, information systems oversight; and quality assurance and improvement support.**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION**- **Qualifications**:REQUIRED: Master;s degree in Business or other Healthcare Administration related field. Five (5) to seven (7) years active relevant management expereince, mnimally three (3) years in Healthcare Department of Surgery experience preferred.
