What you will do:
Aistech Space is looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to contribute to the development of our ENABLER multispectral optical system for space applications in the thermal domain.
The ideal candidate has worked on the development of reflective and/or refractive optical systems for space applications, with a strong background in testing and validation of optical systems.
As the Senior Optical Engineer, you will participate in all the stages of the optical design process, from the definition of the requirements to the design, tolerancing and opto-mechanical design using Ansys Zemax. You will be working in an R&D environment, requiring a strong understanding of laboratory management and equipment procurement, and report your findings to the team.
In this role, you are a self-motivated person, collaborative communicator, building strong relationships and fostering teamwork while keeping up to date with novel testing equipment and techniques.
Who you are:
Must:
- MS and/or PhD in Optics or similar field of study.
- Open minded optical engineer with 5 years demonstrated experience in optical system design for satellite projects.
- Interest in space technologies.
- Strong knowledge in designing optical elements oriented to imaging applications using optical design software such as Zemax or CodeV.
- Demonstrable understanding of radiometric, thermal, and structural effects on optical performance metrics.
- Hands-on experience with testing, aligning, and troubleshooting of optical components and system metrology.
- Experience taking a concept from feasibility prototype to production.
- Experience in image quality testing.
- Experience in analysing data using Python.
- Problem-solving attitude.
- Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English.
- Strong sense of responsibility and dependability.
Nice to have:
- Experience in designing of Infrared and long wave infrared optics will be a plus.
- Experience in using adhesives in optical assemblies will be a plus
