You will identify key areas for improvement, contribute upstream to critical open source projects, and advocate for new features that enhance performance, scalability, and security. You will collaborate closely with developers, maintainers, and project stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration of new capabilities into widely adopted software.You will help define technical strategies, engage with open source communities, and drive consensus on architectural decisions. Working in an agile, startup-style environment with minimal bureaucracy, you will take ownership of complex challenges, contributing code, documentation, and design discussions that shape the future of security at Cisco.Minimum Requirements:BS/BA degree5+ years eBPF & Linux Systems Development experience with eBPF, Linux networking, kernel internals, and performance tuning3+ years of Go Programming Experience developing production-grade applications in Go, particularly in networking, security, or distributed systems.5+ years of Open Source Development Experience track record of contributing to and integrating features into upstream open source projects, especially those with large user bases.Network Security & Observability Demonstrable understanding of network security principles, intrusion detection, traffic analysis, and observability tooling.Desired Qualities:Expertise in Kubernetes & Distributed Applications Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, service meshes, and cloud-native security practices.Excellent Communication & Collaboration Ability to engage with open source communities, drive consensus, and write clear technical documentation.Self-Directed & Impact-Driven Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive meaningful contributions in a fast-paced, minimal-bureaucracy environment.We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
