To complete our team, we are looking for a:

Psychologist FSP / Counsellor

1-year contract - Full-time - 40 hours

The successful candidate will work with individual students and groups of students, parents, specialized staff and teachers to support students with personal, socioemotional, and developmental issues. The candidate will provide a wide array of services to children and adolescents, ranging from recommendations for support, learning strategies, and diagnostic assessment when necessary. They will be assigned a specific group of secondary school students and be expected to collaborate with the other psychologist colleagues to ensure the effective support for students.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission and values of the International School of Geneva.
• Be student centred and approachable to students.
• Ensure the holistic wellbeing of the students in their care.
• Model integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all persons as well as an appreciation for racial, cultural, and gender diversity.
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in holistic care of students and socialise these with mentors and Heads of Year.
• Collaborate with mentors and Heads of Year to deliver programming on mental health and wellbeing.
• Recommend referrals to appropriate outside specialists and to perform diagnostic assessments when necessary.
• Liaise and work with outside specialists in the follow-up of specific situations.
• Provide caring and professional counselling in individual and group sessions helping students to make reflective decisions that affect their personal and academic development.
• Establish positive relationships with students, which, while recognizing the differing roles of adult and child, are characterised by mutual respect and good will.
• Participate in the establishment and maintenance of an atmosphere of collegial support and adherence to professional standards.
• Have a clear understanding of the Safeguarding and Child Protection policy and work within clear guidelines when dealing with students, other professionals, and as part of our reference group.
• Work closely with students, parents, teachers, support services and external agencies.
• Collaborate effectively in our Student Services Group, psychologist, school nurse, and assistant principal. Additionally may provide families with mental health support services resources outside of school.
• Run workshops on themes surrounding adolescence and child development.
