The Therapeutic Area Strategy Head, Radioligand Therapy (RLT), will lead a dedicated team to develop and continuously update a comprehensive enterprise portfolio strategy for RLT, a key growth pillar at Novartis. The role involves close collaboration with Research-Development-Commercial (RDC+), including Biomedical Research, Development, and Commercial teams across US and international locations. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for innovation, extensive industry experience in RLT, scientific expertise, and sound judgment to steer internal decisions and foster sustainable growth in the short, mid, and long-term for the platform. They should have a broad and deep understanding of the RLT platform, including imaging and isotopes, to identify strategic advantages and market opportunities, supported by external analyses, trends, and white space exploration. The role also requires conducting targeted primary research within Radioligand and broader oncology sectors.

About the Role
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides external perspective and identifies opportunities:
- Develops in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area (from early pipeline to commercialization), including disease models, and continuously assesses peer companies with emerging presence in the TA.
- Communicates insights and updates to internal stakeholders, supporting portfolio governance processes such as diligence and landscape mapping with Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A).
- Supports the identification of growth opportunities, including new indications, disease areas, and evaluating the value of potential projects.
- Assists Group Investor Relations and the CEO Office by disseminating strategic insights.
- Collects and synthesizes scientific and commercial insights relevant to the TA.
Owns TA portfolio strategy and prioritization:
- Leads the creation, maintenance, and updates of the enterprise-wide TA portfolio strategy, including decisions on disease area, molecules, and isotopes, to promote growth in collaboration with RDC and RDC+.
Internal and External Commercial and Pipeline Modeling:
- Evaluates programs for alignment with current portfolio strategy and facilitates reviews at key governance bodies like the Innovation Management Board (IMB).
- Provides consolidated commercial and development inputs for business cases concerning internal and external assets, programs, and isotopes.
- Offers an external perspective on internal assumptions regarding pipeline viability.
- Leads assessments of external opportunities, including forecast assumptions and business case development.
Others:
- Develops talent within the team through coaching, attraction, and retention, aligning with People & Organization (P&O) leadership strategies.
- Manages the TA strategy budget, forecasting expenditures, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
What youll bring to the role:
- Advanced degree or equivalent in life sciences or healthcare; MBA preferred.
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Over 10 years of experience in pharmaceuticals or biotech, including drug development and commercialization, with exposure to banking or consulting as relevant.
- At least 3 years of experience specifically with RLT technology.
- Ability to engage effectively with senior leadership and influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong financial, business, and strategic acumen, with a solid understanding of the biopharma landscape.
- Proven leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with experience managing diverse teams.
- Cross-functional leadership experience is essential.
