Lima (Enovis group) is seeking a Research & Innovation Engineer to join the Materials Development team within the R&I department in San Daniele (UD), Italy. This vital role supports research, development, and characterization of advanced materials for orthopaedic implants used in joint arthroplasty. The engineer will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to design, test, and validate new materials and processing techniques, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and business goals. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative medical device technology that enhances patient lives.Main Responsibilities :Participate in materials research and development aligned with the company''s product roadmap.Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate properties of candidate materials and document results.Contribute to material selection and characterization for new product development, ensuring standards compliance (e.g., ISO, ASTM).Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new materials into product designs and manufacturing processes.Stay informed on emerging materials technologies relevant to orthopaedic implants and identify innovation opportunities.Maintain and support the company''s proprietary materials portfolio and new product applications.Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contribute to scientific publications.Ensure compliance with quality system regulations and procedures.Promote a culture of information security and data protection.Education :Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.Required Experience :Minimum two years in a similar role or academic experience with mechanical, biomedical, or materials testing.Understanding of material characterization techniques (e.g., mechanical testing, microscopy).Experience analyzing experimental data and preparing reports and presentations.Ability to maintain detailed research documentation.Experience collaborating on technical projects.Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, MDR, ISO, ASTM) in a medical device context.Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Fluent in Italian and English.Travel Requirements :Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required annually.Desired Characteristics :Masters degree in relevant fields; experience in orthopaedic or biomedical research is preferred.Experience with literature reviews and scientific data collection.Knowledge of materials used in orthopaedic implants (e.g., titanium, cobalt chromium, polymers, ceramics).Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., casting, forging, additive manufacturing).Understanding of biocompatibility and tissue interactions.Publications or patents in relevant areas.Please attach your CV in English.
