What You Will Do:
In this impactful role, you will be responsible for the full contract life-cycle, with a focus on high-stakes negotiations and strategic contract management.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead Complex Negotiations:
- Spearhead and successfully close negotiations for Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and amendments with global Pharma and Biotech clients.
Act as Commercial Lead:
- Serve as the primary business point of contact during negotiations, expertly balancing legal, operational, financial, and project objectives to achieve optimal outcomes.
Define and Draft Contract Scope:
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Business Development, and Technical Operations to translate intricate technical and operational requirements into clear, accurate, and comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs).
Develop Negotiation Strategy:
- Create and implement sophisticated negotiation strategies aligned with long-term revenue growth targets, client relationship management, and effective risk mitigation frameworks.
Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner seamlessly with internal stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Operations, and Project Management to structure contract terms that are mutually beneficial and fully aligned with project execution and business strategy.
Manage Contractual Changes:
- Proactively manage and lead negotiations for amendments and change orders necessitated by evolving project scopes or client needs.
Optimize Contract Processes:
- Own, refine, and continuously improve internal contract negotiation playbooks, standard templates, and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Provide Expert Guidance:
- Offer senior-level counsel and expertise on contractual matters during internal escalations, steering committee meetings, and potential dispute resolution processes.
What You Bring:
Experience:
- Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in relevant roles such as Contract Management, Commercial Management, Business Development, or Project/Alliance Management within the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or CDMO sectors.
Proven Negotiation Track Record:
- Demonstrated success in negotiating, drafting, and closing complex service and supply agreements with Pharma/Biotech clients.
Strong Commercial Acumen:
- A solid understanding of the business drivers in the CDMO space and the ability to link contract strategy directly to revenue generation, profitability, and overall project success.
In-Depth Industry Knowledge:
- Deep familiarity with the CDMO business model, drug development and manufacturing lifecycles, GMP and regulatory frameworks, and CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) principles.
Contracting Mastery:
- Expertise in contract law principles, risk management, compliance, and developing effective commercial strategies specifically for Life Sciences service and supply contracts. The ability to translate complex technical and operational details into precise contractual language is highly advantageous.
Partner Management Experience (Desirable):
- Experience managing relationships and performance of external partners (e.g., CROs, other CDMOs) is a plus.
