About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our team in Rotterdam.

This is a part-time position (approximately 3 days per week). Freelancers (zzpers) are welcome to apply.

This role suits a self-steering, positive thinker who thrives in uncertainty and is passionate about developing software for regulated, high-impact environments.

You will be working across the full lifecycle of product development, from requirements definition through to coding, testing and release in close collaboration with industrial designers, hardware developers and systems engineers. Every project is different, so adaptability and curiosity are key.

Your skills and experience

• 3+ years experience in software development, ideally within medical, safety-critical or high-complexity product environments
• A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• Skilled in C# and Python
• Experience with Java, Kotlin or Swift is a plus
• Comfortable coding for different platforms: PC/Mac/Linux/mobile/embedded
• Experience working with hardware interfaces: Bluetooth, USB, sensors, control outputs
• Understanding of UI/UX principles and integration
• Familiar with software development lifecycle: architecture, requirements, coding, deployment
• Knowledge of working under a Quality Management System (ISO13485, ISO9001, GMP or equivalent)
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams (e.g. mechanical, electrical, regulatory)
• Bonus: experience in server-side scripting, authentication & security
