The role
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our business intelligence and reporting capabilities. You will work closely with data analysts, reporting specialists, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and structured in a way that supports decision-making across the organization. Your expertise in Azure and data engineering best practices will be key to driving the efficiency and scalability of the data operations.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Azure Data Factory and other relevant tools;
- Implement data models, data warehouses, and data lakes to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs;
- Ensure data is organized, stored, and retrieved efficiently, following best practices for data management and security;
- Work with various data sources (databases, APIs, external data feeds) to ingest and integrate data into the data warehouse;
- Transform raw data into structured, usable formats that support analytics and reporting;
- Collaborate with data analysts and reporting specialists to ensure data is accurately transformed and available for reporting in Power BI;
- Implement and monitor data quality processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across the organization;
- Develop and enforce data governance policies, including data security, privacy, and compliance standards;
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring the reliability and performance of the data infrastructure;
- Work closely with the Product Owner, data analysts, and reporting specialists to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs;
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, helping them to utilize the data infrastructure effectively;
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, continuously seeking ways to improve and optimize our data systems.
Your profile
- At least five years of experience in a data engineering role, preferably within the ISP, telecommunications, or networking industry;
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and other Azure data services;
- Strong experience in building and maintaining ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes;
- Proficiency in SQL and data modelling;
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data integration, and ELT best practices
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or C# for data processing tasks;
- Familiarity with Power BI integration and supporting data requirements for reporting;
- Ability to work on-site in the Utrecht area;
- A proactive and solution-oriented attitude, with a passion for building robust data systems;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams;
- And most of all you are a team player that also loves to actively participate in (often sporty
