Our client is one of the biggest players in the defense industry. In the Netherlands, they work with over 2500 employees on the development of the most advanced radar systems in the world. To maintain control over their product configurations, the Configuration Management (CM) department manages product baselines and ensures data integrity.
About the Job
You will be responsible for preparing and executing the Configuration Management Plan (CMP). The core of this role is managing systems and products throughout their entire lifecycle.
As a Configuration Manager, you are an expert in configuration management and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). You bring experience from engineering, which gives you a deep understanding of the value and necessity of PLM.
In this role, you will not only manage your own tasks but also guide and coordinate others. You will contribute to the vision and strategy of the department and play a key role in the continuous improvement of configuration management.
Your responsibilities will include:
Defining, implementing, and maintaining core CMP activities: o Planning and management
o Identification
o Configuration control
o Status accounting
o Verification and audits
- Developing and maintaining CM processes, methods, and best practices based on the international CM2 standard;
- Executing CM tasks within projects, such as managing baselines and deliveries;
- Monitoring and directing CM activities within projects (e.g., change management);
- Creating and delivering configuration management/PLM awareness presentations and training;
- Acting as a process expert, understanding detailed processes and driving improvements;
- Participating in improvement projects to create support for change;
- Being a strong sparring partner for colleagues, product managers, and project managers.
Your experience
- Bachelors degree (preferably in a technical or IT-related field);
- Experience and knowledge of Configuration Management and Product Lifecycle Management;
- CM2 certification;
- Familiarity with development, release, configuration & change management tools and best practices;
- Ability and knowledge to implement and manage improvements using Agile and/or Lean principles;
- Process knowledge and understanding of engineering and supply chain processes;
- Proactive attitude and strong analytical skills;
- Leadership skills and the ability to make independent decisions;
- Ability to communicate comfortably across all levels of the organization;
- Attention to both detail and the bigger picture;
- Proficient in English (spoken and written); German and French are a plus;
- You aim to organize your work with predictability and transparency.
