Location: Fleurus (Belgium)
Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, Europe the role will lead the operations of the plant (~40 employees). This includes health and safety of employees and other personnel, environmental stewardship and compliance to legal requirements, focus on high level of service and product quality for customers, and productivity, cost-efficient operation and responsible asset management of the plant.
The Plant Manager also assumes the primary leadership position at the plant to promote personnel development, optimize organizational culture and drive organizational performance to achieve plant goals and objectives in both the short and long term.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualizes a vision and strategic direction for the plant, consistent with the respective business strategy. Cascades down the strategic plan coming from the Europe Operations Manager and translates the plan into the day-to-day activities of the plant.
- Responsible for overall HSE Performance for the plant. Communicates, promotes and personally demonstrates Safety/Health as #1. Partnering with the Europe HSE Manager, develops and completes HSE action plans for improvements.
- Manages the overall day-to-day operations of the plant to assure optimum utilization of personnel and facilities. Plans, directs and coordinates all manufacturing operations of production and machinery.
- Directs and manages the establishment and maintenance of material replenishment methods, quality standards, and performance metrics in support of the organizational goals and objectives.
- Manages customer service activities.
- Prepares annual budgets along with the Europe Operations Manager.
- Prepares and proposes capital investments. Besides, monitors capital expenditure to ensure budget adherence and follow up projects in mid and long-term to ensure completion and committed payback.
- Provides leadership and resources to implement programs and initiatives.
- Manages all personnel issues and concerns under his/her supervision.
- Actively promotes Potters vision, mission, and values with employees, outside vendors, and customers.
Qualifications and experience:
- University degree or professional diploma in Engineering field (chemical, mechanic).
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role, either as a Plant Manager in small-sized business or Production Unit Manager in bigger organizations. Extensive experience with verifiable accomplishments in manufacturing environments.
- Fluent in English and French with effective communication skills, encompassing verbal, written and presentation.
- Directly applicable knowledge on HSE principles and initiatives, as well as environmental regulations and compliance.
- Directly applicable engineering, maintenance and continuous improvement experience with a mid-size manufacturing organization.
- Demonstrated Leadership and prior experience leading teams.
- Ability to work across all functions and levels of the organization.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
