Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled freelance External Advisor with deep expertise in EU affairs, particularly in trade and foreign affairs. This role is designed for a professional who can navigate the intricacies of EU policies, provide strategic advice, and leverage a robust network within EU institutions and member states to support our clients objectives. As a freelance position, it offers flexibility, making it ideal for candidates who excel in project-based, independent work environments.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Analysis: Deliver expert analysis on EU trade policies, foreign affairs developments, and their implications for clients strategic interests in the EU and beyond.
Research and Reporting: Conduct comprehensive research and produce detailed reports on EU regulations, trade agreements, and geopolitical trends affecting market dynamics.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in EU institutions (e.g., European Commission, European Parliament), member states, and policy-focused think tanks to gather insights and advance client goals.
Representation: Represent West-Eastern Consulting in meetings with policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders to advocate for clients interests and foster collaboration.
Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with our team to develop and implement strategies that align with clients objectives, particularly in the context of EU-Asia relations.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience: Proven track record in EU affairs, trade policy, or foreign affairs, with a deep understanding of the EUs political, economic, and regulatory landscape.
Network: Extensive and active connections within EU institutions, member states, and relevant policy organizations, enabling effective stakeholder engagement.
Analytical Skills: Strong research and analytical capabilities, with the ability to synthesize complex political and economic information into actionable insights.
Communication: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in additional EU languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish) is highly desirable.
Independence: Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a freelance capacity.
Global Perspective: Understanding of the political and economic dynamics between the EU and Asia is a significant advantage, aligning with our mission to bridge regions.
Education: A degree in political science, international relations, economics, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory if experience is substantial.
