Position Overview
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to spearhead the development of a groundbreaking marketplace platform in drug discovery. This is a rare opportunity to join at the foundation of a startup, lead the creation of a high-impact platform, and drive meaningful change in healthcare innovation.
This role can be remote, with occasional travel for key meetings and events. Candidates located in or near Basel, Switzerland, or London, UK, will have the advantage of proximity to major life sciences hubs and the founding team.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Development & Strategy:
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of the marketplace platform , ensuring exceptional user experience, scalability, and security.
- Focus on data exchange functionality, enabling seamless collaboration among life sciences stakeholders.
- Develop features and tools that leverage AI and machine learning to optimize drug discovery processes.
Technical Leadership:
- Define and execute the technology vision and roadmap, aligning with the companys strategic objectives.
- Build a robust platform architecture capable of managing complex datasets, user workflows, and integrations with external systems.
- Champion best practices for software development, quality assurance, and data privacy compliance, particularly in the life sciences sector.
AI Integration:
- Incorporate advanced AI models and data analytics to enhance platform capabilities, optimize user workflows, and enable predictive insights.
- Drive innovation in machine learning applications for data screening, harmonization, and decision-making.
Team Building & Collaboration:
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing technical team with expertise in marketplace development and healthtech innovation.
- Partner closely with the founding team, advisors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of technology initiatives with business goals.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with users, pharmaceutical companies, and research organizations to gather feedback and refine the platforms functionality and value proposition.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven track record in building and scaling marketplace platforms , ideally with a focus on data-intensive (life-sciences) applications.
- Strong proficiency in software development, cloud technologies, and system architecture, with expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
- Familiarity with platform-specific technologies , API development, and integrations for data-sharing ecosystems.
- Strong proficiency in frontend frameworks such as NextJS.
- Proficiency with relational databases like Postgres/MySQL.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure (Familiarity with AWS and Terraform is a plus).
AI Proficiency:
- Hands-on experience with AI and machine learning technologies, particularly in applications related to data analytics or workflow optimization.
- Experience shipping LLM-based solutions to production.
- Experience with inference and evaluation platforms.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on aligning technical and business priorities.
- You love working in a startup environment (you either have experience working in a startup or are really drawn to the zero-to-one phase).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and priorities.
