PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Operates a variety of mobile hydraulic boom cranes with lifting capacities over 50 tons at locations where maneuverability is restricted, and accuracy is critical.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Makes precise load placements where exact movements are necessary to position the load accurately and safely.
- Actively supports the companys commitment to safety and its core values.
- Represents the company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the code of business conduct and ethics.
- Performs loading and unloading of equipment and supplies, especially where masts, antennas, and other obstructions exist.
- Precisely positions equipment, lifts heavy machinery and components, beams, and lumber.
- Cross-trains in other positions and performs other related duties as assigned.
- Works in a cab, using pilot-operated joystick controls, pedals, levers, and buttons to lift, move, and position loads with hoisting attachments such as hooks, slings, electromagnets, and buckets.
- Observes load hookup and determines the safety of the load; inspects and reports on crane and hoisting mechanisms.
- Maintains caution and attentiveness to follow directions closely, communicating with team members verbally and via signals.
- Identifies safety hazards and takes corrective actions to eliminate or minimize risks.
- Performs all other job-related duties as directed by supervision.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical, industrial, or refinery maintenance experience. Basic knowledge of hand tools. Ability to pass equipment tests and visual inspections. Completion of Matrix Service safety training, Process Safety Management training, and site-specific training. Must obtain and maintain an active drug testing program. Must possess a current NCCCO card and DOT card.
Physical Requirements:
Includes field inspections and audits, requiring:
- Ability to walk into and out of projects via turnstile access.
- Extensive walking on construction sites.
- Climbing ladders, scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and uneven surfaces.
- Working in confined spaces.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects up to 40 pounds.
- Use of PPE such as fall protection harnesses and hard hats.
- Ability to be fit tested for and use respirators.
- Performing tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
