About the Job:
At Moonwatt, our mission is to drive innovation in energy storage solutions for utility-scale applications, ensuring seamless and efficient energy integration into the grid. We are looking for a talented Mechnical Engineer to spearhead the design and development of our advanced Energy Storage Systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the novel mechanical aspect of the battery storage solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance our technology and contribute to shaping the grids of tomorrow.
Responsibilities:
Take strong ownership in the mechanical design of Moonwatts high voltage battery system, from conceptual stage to final design, testing and manufacturing.
Use CAD software such as SolidWorks to develop 3D CAD models of equipment structures and internal component layouts. Perform FEA analysis to determine compliance to seismic requirements, shipping standards, and other mechanical requirements.
Perform thermal heat transfer analysis and simulation for thermal management of the battery system.
Develop and manage subsystem and component requirements.
Collaborate closely cross-functional teams, including electrical, controls, electronics, logistics and manufacturing teams and external parties such as suppliers or contract manufacturers.
Promote and participate in a culture of rapid prototyping and testing.
Foster a collaborative team spirit and a proactive attitude. No task is too big or too small.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience designing mechanical products
Strong fundamentals in mechanical and thermal engineering.
Extensive use of commercial CAD and PLM software. Familiarity with FEA and other common CAE practices.
Experience with the design and manufacturing of medium to high-volume products.
Hands-on prototyping, validation, and testing experience.
Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and leveraging technology to drive positive environmental impact.
Willingness and ability to travel 30% of time
Eligibility to work in Europe.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with high voltage battery architecture development, or mechanical design of electrical power equipment such as power converters or control panels.
Experience in battery modeling, simulation, and testing.
