Senior Risk and Compliance Manager - Insurance Industry
Location: The Hague, Netherlands
Salary: 80,000 - 90,000 per year + one month''s bonus
An international insurance organisation is seeking a highly skilled risk and compliance professional to drive its global risk strategy. This senior role will oversee governance, regulatory compliance, and IT risk management across multiple regions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing risk frameworks, managing due diligence for acquisitions, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations such as AML, GDPR, DORA, and ISAE3402. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills are essential, as this role involves close collaboration with senior executives, regulators, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Risk and Compliance Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk and compliance strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Establish and oversee risk management policies, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements across various jurisdictions.
- Lead risk assessments for acquisitions and strategic projects.
- Oversee IT risk management, including cybersecurity, data protection, and industry compliance.
- Strengthen internal controls and incident response processes.
Strategic Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors, and senior leadership.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies across business operations.
- Provide expert guidance to senior leadership on regulatory developments and emerging risks.
Project and Change Management
- Lead global risk and compliance initiatives, ensuring objectives are met efficiently.
- Work closely with IT, legal, and operational teams to enhance risk controls.
- Promote a culture of proactive risk awareness and regulatory compliance.
Reporting and Policy Development
- Prepare and present risk reports to the board and regulatory authorities.
- Continuously refine policies to align with evolving business needs and regulations.
What We''re Looking For
Experience
- At least ten years of experience in risk, compliance, internal audit, or IT risk within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management, AML, GDPR, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with MA due diligence and post-transaction risk integration.
- Familiarity with IT security standards such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
- Proven leadership experience in a multinational environment.
Skills and Attributes
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute high-level risk strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging with senior executives and regulators.
- Fluent in English and Dutch (additional languages are an advantage).
- Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to risk assessment.
