Everything we do is centred on our delivery of Insurance Good and ProperPosition DescriptionThe position calls for a person who will provide dynamic leadership to ensure effective risk and financial management, control and reporting. This position is a combination of finance and risk management processes and seeks to deliver financial outputs and quality assurance/risk management.Key Responsibilities**A) Finance**:- Liaison between Santam Finance (JHB support division) and Outsourced Business- Ensure good financial and corporate governance- Report on financial results (growth, underwriting profit, management expenses, budget, etc.)- Scrutinise the overall reasonability of inputs relating to Outsourced Businesss financial activities, including accounts payable and credit control- Review general ledger reconciliations, including claims float and claims control accounts- Analyse income statements and follow-up on any discrepancies- Analyse expenses and report deviations against budget- Assist with budgeting process (manage input and monthly deviations)- Manage finance key financial drivers and trends (i.e. ACPC, PPU, Frequency, Loss Ratio, etc.) - dashboard development and analysis- Manage statistical data and National Broker reports- Liaise with auditors (internal & external)- Build relationships with business partners- Ad hoc project management initiatives (e.g. Qlikview dashboard reports, outsourced business project plan initiatives, etc.).**B) Quality Assurance (risk management)**i) Adherence to binder mandatesManage and lead a team of Quality Reviewers, with a focus on Personal Lines and Commercial portfolio management business. The scope of these reviews would be to provide assurance (w.r.t. agreed binder functions) on all underwriting, claims and finance related matters- Review staffs working papers and draft reports- Liaise with Audit and Forensic department (or other assurance providers) on scheduled internal audits and/or forensic investigations.ii) New Business take-on opportunitiesFacilitate discussions with potential partners- Perform Due Diligence reviews on new partners for potential take-on- Liaise with internal stakeholders- Consider take-on conditions and recommendations.iii) Risk Management and ComplianceReview and update strategic & operational risk register- Review and update business units continuity plan (BCP)- Ensure integration of operational risks into review programs- Liaise with ERM team (re aspects of compliance), with specific reference to Santams outsourcing policy (i.e. FSB Directive 159.A.i)- Liaise with Corporate Legal on the Binder Agreement framework and regulatory requirements; Review SOPs and SLA to ensure alignment to business requirements and regulatory changesMinimum RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEB.Compt Degree / Diploma- Preferred registered CA (SA) / CIMA- **3 - 5 **years relevant insurance experienceSKILLSGeneral financial & risk management knowledge- Relevant experience in terms of managing relationships with business partners- Leadership or Managerial experience- Portfolio Administration- Appreciation of industry issues that affect risk management- Knowledge and experience of strategy formulation and implementation- Solid communication and negotiation skillsCompetenciesBEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIESCommercial orientation- Client focus- Enabling innovation- Change leadership- Continuous learning- Emotional intelligence- Integrity- Team-focused leadership- Talent enablement- Driving strategy
