SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (DIGITAL TECH & BRAND TECHNOLOGIES)
BACKEND – FRONTEND – FULLSTACK PROFILES
PURPOSE
Join adidas and help build the next generation of digital platforms powering our business, products and consumer experiences.
As a Senior Engineer, you will be part of an international engineering team designing, building and operating scalable cloud-native solutions used by millions of consumers, creators and business users worldwide.
Depending on the team match and business needs, you may join an engineering team within either:
Digital Tech, delivering capabilities across digital commerce, consumer engagement, customer communications and business platforms.
Brand & Creation Technologies (BCT), enabling the design, creation, planning and delivery of products and experiences that drive the adidas brand globally.
Regardless of your landing team, you will contribute to modern backend services and both internal and consumer facing frontend applications, APIs, event-driven architectures and cloud-native platforms while working closely with product, architecture, quality engineering and platform teams.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Join an international team of talented and passionate engineers developing cloud-native platforms.
Contribute to defining the technical roadmap of the services in scope.
Design and develop applications based on microservices architecture.
Create rich feature APIs and interact with other APIs or event platforms such as Kafka.
Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery processes using adidas standard platforms.
Deploy and operate cloud-native solutions on adidas Kubernetes clusters.
Align and evolve team processes and adidas engineering standards.
Implement code quality assurance processes, code reviews and engineering best practices.
Identify and manage technical debt.
Mentor and guide software engineers within the team.
Engage with relevant stakeholders including Business Teams, Product Owners, QA Engineers, Architects, Site Reliability Engineers and external partners.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
College or university degree with focus on IT or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 7 years of IT experience with exposure to the product development lifecycle.
Previous experience leading engineers or technical initiatives is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Fluent English (written and spoken).
Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools and processes.
Strong software quality assurance mindset and engineering excellence practices.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
We are hiring across backend, frontend and full-stack profiles. We expect depth in at least one of the areas below and working familiarity with the shared engineering foundations that follow.
If your strength is backend development:
Strong experience building backend services in Java/Spring Boot and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
Strong experience in API design, data modelling and service integration.
If your strength is frontend development:
Strong experience in TypeScript, JavaScript, and modern frontend standards (modern ECMAScript).
Strong experience in frontend frameworks: React JS (including state management such as Redux, MobX or the Context API), and additional experience with Angular or Vue.js.
Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and hands-on experience with SASS/LESS.
Shared engineering foundations:
Experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar, including effective prompt creation, code generation, code review and debugging workflows.
Experience designing, developing and deploying microservices-based architectures and REST APIs, including synchronous and asynchronous communication paradigms.
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience and performance.
Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging patterns.
Experience with CI/CD practices and modern software delivery pipelines.
Experience operating and troubleshooting applications in production environments.
Strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, code quality, maintainability and observability.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience in using context engineering principles, spec driven development and effective interaction patterns with AI development agents.
Experience with agentic software engineering concepts.
Experience with serverless architectures and AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SNS or SQS.
Experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka.
Experience in Responsive Single Page Application development.
Experience in test automation across unit, API and end-to-end layers (Jest, Rest Assured, Cypress/Playwright/Selenium, Serenity).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform or similar).
Experience developing high-volume consumer-facing platforms.
Experience working with Product Creation, Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, Consumer Engagement or Digital Commerce platforms.
