Responsibilities
The Consulting Associate position is an entry-level role for applicants with a postgraduate qualification in economics and up to three years of experience. Associates work closely with Vice Presidents and senior staff, scholars, and industry experts on project teams, often handling high-profile competition cases in Europe. Responsibilities include:
- Identifying potential issues and conducting analyses to illustrate economic arguments;
- Gathering and assembling evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and recommendations;
- Programming, building models, and performing regression analyses using statistical tools (e.g., Stata, Python, R), including large data projects with cloud computing;
- Assisting in developing and presenting client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers;
- Communicating complex economic concepts clearly to non-experts;
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions;
- Participating in practice-building activities like training, recruiting, and knowledge sharing.
Desired Qualifications
- MSc/MPhil in economics from reputable institutions, with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably specializing in industrial organization or econometrics, along with a good undergraduate degree in economics;
- Up to 3 years of professional experience, ideally in consulting or competition policy;
- Fluency in English and Dutch; additional languages like French or German are a plus;
- Strong numeracy skills and comfort with data manipulation; familiarity with econometric techniques is desirable;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- High initiative and leadership qualities;
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities;
- Good time management and task prioritization skills.
