Co-Founder - Building high-power plasma propulsion systems

With an exponential increase in satellites in Low Earth Orbit and a growing interest in exploring other planetary bodies, the need for fast and efficient propulsion technologies is critical. Classical chemical rockets offer high thrust but low specific impulse (efficiency), requiring large amounts of fuel even for small maneuvers. Traditional plasma thrusters, such as Hall-effect thrusters or Gridded-ion thrusters, present a trade-off: very low thrust with high specific impulse, requiring minimal propellant but providing thrust in the milliNewton range, which is unsuitable for many applications.

Therefore, there is a strong need to develop a high-thrust, high-specific impulse plasma propulsion system that could revolutionize space travel. Ionic Thrust Systems (ITS) aims to achieve this by using superconducting magnets to compress plasma before ejection, significantly increasing ejection mass and velocity.

As an ETH alumnus in physics and a current propulsion engineer with industry contacts and technical expertise, I am seeking a co-founder with a background in mechanical, electrical, or applied physics (preferably ETH/EPFL) to join this venture. The primary responsibilities include securing funding from diverse sources, establishing academic and industry partnerships, building a proof of concept through simulations and small models, and gaining support and validation from the Swiss Plasma Center to enhance credibility.

The project aims to register as an ESA BIC startup by late September 2025 to facilitate growth. The startup''s physical location is to be discussed; during the development phase, work can be distributed across Switzerland and Europe with frequent in-person meetings. Currently based in London, I will be relocating to Switzerland next month.

If interested, please contact me via email at , LinkedIn, or through this platform''s messaging app. I look forward to exchanging ideas and exploring new opportunities.
