Role Overview
We are seeking a competent Commercial Manager with a strong background covering sales within the Dutch energy market, specifically in energy for use in the Dutch industrial sector. This is a sales-focused role responsible for identifying, developing, and securing long-term commercial contracts for heat energy supply with industrial, municipal, and energy distribution clients.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving revenue, shaping customer solutions, and contributing to the energy transition across the Netherlands. This is a role focus on clean energy production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial sales process for energy supply contracts (520 years) with public and private sector clients.
- Structure and negotiate long-term energy and service agreements, ensuring commercial viability and regulatory compliance.
- Identify new business opportunities and manage the full sales cyclefrom prospecting through to contract closure.
- Collaborate with technical, legal, and operations teams to build bespoke energy solutions, including district heating, energy distribution, and integrated services.
- Monitor and advise on energy tariffs, price-cap models, and policy changes affecting the Dutch heat market.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
- Represent the company at industry events, stakeholder meetings, and government-led energy transition initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a commercial, sales, or business development role within the energy market, preferably in heat energy, district heating, or utility services.
- Proven track record of closing long-term energy contracts with either energy providers or large-scale end users.
- In-depth knowledge of the Dutch energy market, including regulatory structures (e.g., Warmtewet), energy pricing models, and market regulatory issues.
- Strong understanding of energy production, distribution, and network managementincluding technical and commercial interdependencies.
- Experience working with or within municipalities, developers, or industrial clients.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken).
