Lima (Enovis group) is seeking a Research & Innovation Engineer to join the Materials Development team within the R&I department in San Daniele (UD), Italy. This key role involves supporting the research, development, and characterization of advanced materials for orthopaedic implants used in joint arthroplasty. The R&I Engineer will collaborate with engineers and scientists in designing, testing, and validating new materials and processing techniques, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and business goals. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative medical device technologies and enhance patient outcomes worldwide.Main Responsibilities:Participate in materials research and development aligned with the company''s product roadmap and vision.Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate the properties of candidate materials, documenting results thoroughly.Contribute to material selection and characterization for new product development, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO and ASTM.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new materials into product designs and manufacturing processes seamlessly.Stay informed about emerging materials technologies relevant to orthopaedic implants and identify opportunities for innovation.Maintain the global portfolio of proprietary materials and support new product development applications.Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contribute to publications on research findings.Ensure adherence to quality system regulations and procedures.Promote a culture of information security and data protection.Education:Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.Required Experience:Minimum of two years in a similar role or relevant academic experience in mechanical, biomedical, or materials testing.Knowledge of material characterization techniques (e.g., mechanical testing, microscopy).Experience analyzing experimental data and preparing reports.Ability to document research accurately.Experience collaborating on technical projects.Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, MDR, ISO, ASTM).Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Fluent in Italian and English.Travel Requirements:Up to 10% domestic and international travel annually.Desired Characteristics:Masters degree in relevant fields; experience in orthopaedic or biomedical research preferred.Experience with literature reviews and scientific data gathering.Familiarity with processing and manufacturing of orthopaedic materials (e.g., titanium alloys, cobalt-chromium, polymers, ceramics).Knowledge of manufacturing processes like casting, forging, additive manufacturing, machining, finishing.Understanding of biocompatibility and biological interactions of biomaterials.Publications or patents in relevant areas.Please attach your CV in English.
