Under the supervision of the Director for Administrative Enforcement Unit (AEU) Legal Matters with latitude for independent action and decision making, performs Department legal work. Responsibilities to include:- Prosecuting Department of Buildings (DOB) violations at the Environmental Control Board (ECB). Promptly reporting atECB locations throughout the five boroughs on a daily basis to represent the Department on these cases.Legal writing, including the preparation of appeals, responses, motions and other documents relating to the continuingprosecution ofDOB violations.Identifying and retrieving appropriate documents and evidence produced at the hearings from the ECB.- Promptly and accurately notifying the AEU senior staff of important and developments and outcome of hearings,adjournments and other matters connected to cases at hearings.Pre-hearing preparation, including general research for upcoming cases and follow through of previous cases handled.- Performing in-house assignments relating to ECB adjudication ofDOB violations.- Actively undertaking and participating in special projects and assignments.- Any other duties as assigned.Minimum Qual RequirementsGraduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.Preferred SkillsDemonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple assignments withmnimal supervision.Experience with Building Code, Zoning, Multiple Dwelling Law or land use law.- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Lexis-Nexis, West Law etc.To Apply**For Non-City/External Candidates**: Visit the External Applicant NYC Careers site (nyc.gov/jobs/search) and search for the specific Job ID #**For Current City Employees**: Visit Employee Self-Service (ESS) to view and apply for available positions.
