Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Customs Specialist to join our team in Rotterdam. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating the smooth flow of goods through customs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customs Documentation: Prepare, review, and manage all necessary documentation for import and export activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and international regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with changes in customs laws and regulations, ensuring that all company practices adhere to current requirements.
- Product Classification: Accurately classify products according to the Harmonized System (HS) code.
- Communication: Act as the primary liaison between JD.com and customs authorities, facilitating clear and effective communication to resolve any issues that may arise during the customs process.
- Internal Support: Provide guidance and support to internal teams on customs-related matters, including training staff on compliance issues and developing internal policies and procedures.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential customs risks and issues, conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with customs regulations and procedures.
- Coordination: Work closely with freight forwarders, brokers, and other involved parties to ensure timely and compliant movement of goods across borders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in International Relations, Business, Law, or a related field.
- In-depth understanding of international trade laws and regulations, with familiarity in import/export procedures and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in customs compliance and documentation.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a customs-related environment, such as roles like Customs Broker, Import/Export Coordinator, or Compliance Analyst.
- Experience with automated logistics systems and processes is a plus.
