Join Athora Belgium as a Senior Business Actuary - Life Insurance on a permanent contract in Bussels!
Within the Insurance division, whose mission is to ensure the profitability, development and sale of our products and services and to steer our life insurance portfolio, the Business Change & Monitoring Department steers the Life Insurance business through numerical analyses, provides technical support by carrying out the necessary technical and actuarial studies and analyses business projects with an IT impact.

Your responsibilities
- Carrying out recurring actuarial activities as well as specific projects including closures, policy calculations, pricings, offers, and legal declarations.
- Producing financial, reinsurance, regulatory and business reports in connection with closures.
- Stabilising the information necessary for the closure.
- Managing and verifying the reserves and policy calculations.
- Identifying and resolving data quality issues.
- Providing technical support for managers via calculations.
- Producing business hypotheses for Solvency and IFRS calculations.
- Supporting current Life Insurance activities, including helping to set prices and assess commercial offers.
- Carrying out and checking calculations (premiums, reserves, capital, etc.) for individual and group life insurance.
- Developing and maintaining calculation tools in connection with policies and pricing (Excel, SAS, etc.).
- Putting into place and maintaining models for the teams activity (budgets, projections, reinsurance, provisioning, etc.).
- Using and improving profitability calculation models.
- Proposing and monitoring actions to improve profitability.
- Carrying out technical analyses of portfolio developments.
- Supporting the setting of budgets and goals linked to the portfolio in the framework of the annual strategic plan.
- Participating in transverse projects.
Your profile
- You have a masters degree, preferably in mathematics, actuarial sciences or economics.
- You have at least 3 years experience in a similar position , ideally in life insurance, reinsurance or bank investment products.
- You are a Dutch or French speaker with a good command of the other national language and can work effectively in English.
- You have an analytical mind coupled with the necessary capacity for abstraction to understand results/figures and formulate recommendations.
- You are able to present your analyses effectively, simply and clearly to all the interested parties, including Senior Management.
- You have Excel (VBA) at your fingertips and are comfortable with Powerpoint.
- You have a good command of at least one database query language (SAS, SQL); knowledge of Power BI or PowerQuery is a plus.
- You are flexible and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- You are autonomous and take initiatives.
- You have a critical mind and are always looking to improve on what already exists.
- You naturally have a team spirit.
