This position is responsible for media & patient relations strategies and tactics management to drive AbbVie''s leadership with a focus in Immunology and Eye Care. The role reports to the Corporate Affairs Manager and has accountability for the deployment and outcome of media and patient relations strategies and activities. The role sits on the therapeutic area and Brand Team to contribute to the development of business strategies and acts as a strategic counselor to these teams. The Corporate Affairs Specialist must work collaboratively with AbbVie''s Areas and Global as well as across functions, particularly Marketing, Medical, Regulatory, Government Affairs, Market Access, and others as relevant.Specific functions performed include strategic stakeholder engagement, patient activation, and advocacy. The role also oversees media relations, digital communications, social media, and issues management for the indication and/or therapeutic area.Key Responsibilities Include:Maintaining a solid understanding of AbbVie''s business model and strategy in the context of market dynamics and the potential impact of internal and external changes;Delivering an integrated Corporate Affairs strategy for the brand;Informing work with a deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, economic environment, key stakeholders, competitive dynamics, and legal, regulatory, and policy requirements;Setting clear direction, prioritizing effectively, and making informed choices that drive impact, including applying critical thinking through objective analysis and evidence-based recommendations;Influencing decisions as a fully integrated member of the cross-functional team by establishing a clear and vital role, demonstrating credibility and value;Understanding the needs, perspectives, objectives, and influence chains of internal and external stakeholders to guide decisions;Planning key components of a Corporate Affairs program, estimating resource needs and timing;Delivering programs on time and within budget, managing priorities and contingencies;Providing active leadership, giving clear direction, and offering feedback as needed;Exercising excellent written and oral communication skills;Maximizing impact by socializing programs, measuring change, and sharing results;Developing compelling narratives that align with objectives and connect with stakeholders, leveraging understanding of audiences;Choosing the best channels and strategies to deliver messages proactively or reactively, based on influencer and media analysis;Advocating for the company''s reputation by understanding its mission, vision, principles, and external context;Anticipating potential issues and crafting appropriate responses;Reacting calmly and quickly to unexpected issues, marshaling stakeholders for aligned responses;Making discerning choices about when and how to speak on behalf of the company or function.Qualifications:Degree in communications, PR, marketing, or related field;At least 3 years of relevant healthcare communications experience, preferably with international exposure;Proven expertise in developing and executing insight-driven stakeholder engagement and patient advocacy programs;Understanding of public relations and its role within marketing;Media relations experience and instincts;Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with strong influence, negotiation, and relationship management skills;Experience in issue and crisis management;Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and credibility;Fluency in English.Additional Information:AbbVie is an equal opportunity employer committed to operating with integrity, driving innovation, transforming lives, serving communities, and embracing diversity and inclusion.
