Wildlife Conservation SocietyPosition DescriptionDepartment: Park Services-SecurityTitle: Crowd Control AttendantEmployment Type: TemporaryStatus: Non-ExemptGrade Level: HourlyPay Range: $12.00 / hourReports To: SupervisorSchedule: 4-5 days Must be able to work weekends and holidaysHours: Hours vary dependent on weather and guest attendance; schedule subject to change through the spring and summerPosition SummaryThe Crowd Control Attendant maintains the New York Aquarium by performing a number of tasks as part of a crew or alone.**Responsibilities**:Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Assist security in maintaining crowd control throughout the NYA grounds- Assist security in maintaining a safe environment for employees, visitors and our living collection.- Assist security in detecting and preventing any intrusions or misconduct and reporting immediately to security.- Assist in evacuation of the Aquarium during an emergency.- Assist in guiding customers in and out of every Aqua Theater show and monitoring stands during demonstration- Assist security in directing emergency respondents (EMS, FDNY, NYPD, etc) personnel to the security officer requesting their assistance.- Assist in monitoring the parking lots.- Assist parking lot attendants while they are parking school buses and allowing the driver to disembark the occupants in a safe manner when necessary.- To report any unusual conditions or situations to security immediatelyQualificationsMust be 18 years of age or older- Must possess a valid 8 hour & 16 hour training certificate- Good oral communication skills required- High School diploma or GED required- Ability to remain outdoors for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions- Reliability and dependabilityif hired, must attend the 8 hour and 16 hour Security Guard TrainingLocationsNew York AquariumEOE/ AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled
