As a member of AXIS, you join a team that is among the best in the industry.**Position Summary**:The Underwriter is expected to contribute in the development and consolidation of a technically profitable portfolio as well as to assist in fostering commercial relationships pursuant to the underwriting policy and business plan as defined by AXIS Re Executive Management.Key Duties & Responsibilities:- Underwriting assessments pursuant to underwriting guidelines and the Sr Underwriter Credit & Bonds sign-off- Methodical use of Underwriting worksheets as the means to communicate risk assessments and developments- Rating and negotiating underwriting conditions with clients, in accordance with the directives and within the agreed parameters established during the peer review- Validating reinsurance treaties, once drafted, and participating in the treaty management process- Validate accuracy of treaty information input into the system- Assist in monitoring aggregate commitments specific to the class of business- Visiting clients and participating in auditsDraft reports on visits to clients and distributing such reports to the related employees,- Maintaining commercial relations with clients or intermediaries in all markets for which the underwriter has been assigned responsibility (Latin America)- Represent the company in industry seminars if needed- Actively participate in the collective training of co-workers or clients and promotion of technical skills- Contribute to the development of annual marketing & audit plans- Contribute to the development annual underwriting business plansRequired Education/Training & Experience:Proven experience on the South American reinsurance marketStrong proficiency in English and Spanish, Portuguese would be an assetStrong Microsoft Office skills- University degree and/or at least 5 years of reinsurance underwriting experienceSolid understanding of measuring exposure and basic pricing techniques (exposure and experience methods).Complete understanding of reinsurance structures and the needs they serve.Good understanding of statistics or financial analysis.Demonstrated rigor and work ethicHigh level of motivation and a proposer of solutionsAbility to manage priorities under intense pressure and time constraints.Important Working RelationshipsInternally : Directors, Underwriters, Regional Managers, Class Managers, Claims and Accounting technicians, Underwriting Assistants, Actuaries, and External Communication.- Externally : Brokers, cedants, managing general agents, and law firms.
