The role requires excellent time management and critical thinking skills. Responsibilities include assessing child safety and risk, working with families, agencies, and courts, and case planning. The environment is fast-paced, demanding organization, expertise, and accuracy. Key functions include:Responding to reports of child abuse/neglectAssessing safety and riskConducting interviews and gathering informationMaking contacts with families and childrenAttending court hearingsPreparing case plans and staffingWriting reports and documentationCoordinating and monitoring servicesTransporting children and managing case logisticsUsing department software and technologyNote: Overtime, weekend, and holiday hours may be required.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of: Confidentiality, behavior modification, conflict resolution, counseling, intervention, interviewing, child development, family systems, mental health indicators, abuse impact, separation issues, child welfare practices, and relevant software tools.Skills in: Building relationships, communication, information gathering, professionalism, time management, observation, cultural sensitivity, stress management, adaptability, and decision-making.Abilities to: Complete tasks thoroughly, lead responsibly, analyze information, recognize substance abuse issues, document accurately, operate computer systems, and maintain CPR certification.RequirementsBachelors or Masters degree (transcripts required) or 4 years DCS Case Aide experienceDepartment of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance CardValid drivers license and compliance with driving requirementsCompletion of in-person training in Midtown Phoenix (first 22 weeks), including overnight stays if neededSelected candidates must pass background checks, written exam, and vehicle and registry checks.
