About us
Scintil Photonics is a fabless company developing and commercializing silicon photonic integrated circuits with integrated lasers for AI datacenters. Based on the companys disruptive SHIP process technology, Scintil enables optical interconnects to achieve low-latency, high-density, power-efficiency and ultra-high-speed. Scintil is an international company headquartered in France, with offices in Canada and the United States.
Position overview
We are seeking a hands-on, technically driven Test Engineer with a strong background in photonic components and ideally wafer-level testing knowledge. This position requires experience with electronic and optical measurement equipment, and ideally, optoelectronics or laser-based devices. You will play a critical role in characterizing and validating photonic integrated circuits (PICs) at wafer level, working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure robust, scalable, and high-yield test methodologies.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with early-career or foundational experience in semiconductor and photonic testing to take the next step in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.
Key responsibilities
- Execute wafer-level testing of photonic integrated circuits, including electro-optic and laser-based measurements.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain optical, electronic, test equipment (e.g., source meters, optical spectrum analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, probe stations).
- Analyze and document test results, deviations, and trends to support product validation and yield improvement.
- Collaborate with external foundries, test houses, and equipment vendors to develop and refine wafer test procedures.
- Support the development of automated test setups and contribute to test software and data processing scripts.
- Troubleshoot performance issues in devices or test setups involving optical alignment, thermal stability, and electronic interfacing.
- Work closely with R&D and advanced test engineering teams to implement and optimize innovative photonic test concepts.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in semiconductor testing, preferably wafer-level characterization.
- Familiarity with photonic devices (modulators, detectors, waveguides, lasers, etc.) and associated measurement principles.
- Proficiency in using electronic and optical lab instrumentation (e.g., power meters, laser drivers, network analyzers).
- Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom or lab environment, handling delicate optical and electronic components.
- Programming/scripting experience (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB) is a plus.
- Experience in silicon photonics or integrated laser systems is highly desirable.
Why join us
- A front-row seat to breakthrough photonic integration technology.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- A dynamic, collaborative, and innovative workplace.
- Opportunities for professional development and international visibility in the photonics ecosystem.
