Join our dynamic team at Westport Fuel Systems Italia, located in Cherasco. This is a permanent position offering exciting opportunities to work on cutting-edge projects in the field of engine calibration and control systems. The successful candidate will play a critical role in calibrating Engine Control Units (ECUs) using advanced diagnostic software, ensuring precision and adherence to the highest standards.
Please note: this role requires frequent international travel and is on-site only.
Key Responsibilities
- Application and integration of Engine Management Systems at both engine and vehicle levels.
- Execution of calibration activities, including Design of Experiments (DOE), data analysis, optimization, and calibration management.
- Develop and execute engine calibration and system validation test plans.
- Oversee test activities at internal and external facilities.
- Define hardware and software requirements for control systems.
- Manage the release of software and calibrations for internal and external customers.
- Specify control system components and architecture for future projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis, validate findings, and implement effective solutions.
- Provide on-site support to customers globally, traveling as needed.
What Were Looking For
Mandatory Technical Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelors or Masters), with competencies in automotive systems and combustion engines.
- Fluent English to collaborate internationally.
- Availability for worldwide travel, including troubleshooting and development at customer sites.
- On-site work required, with little to no remote options, due to daily interaction with prototypes.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Mandatory Soft Skills
- Strong teamwork skills, emphasizing proactivity, commitment, and respect for roles.
- Analytical mindset with expertise in root cause analysis and a structured, deterministic approach.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Expertise in internal combustion engines, particularly spark-ignited engine controls.
- Practical mechanical knowledge, with a focus on engine components.
- Familiarity with engine management software, including:
- Calibration tools like ETAS INCA/MDA or equivalent post-process software.
- Basic knowledge of Matlab-Simulink.
